This depends on YOU and your needs. If you prefer to attend treatment in an urban or institutional environment then we are not for you. If you need to be told who you can talk to & who you can sit by, then we are not for you. If you wish for a larger centre, one where perhaps you can hide and slide, get lost in the crowd, then we are not for you. If you know that your chances of a successful outcome will improve by attending a centre that offers a combination of privacy, natural beauty, luxury lodge accommodations, very healthy and delicious cuisine, a committed highly trained empathetic, professional “staff that gets it” all in a 22 bed treatment Centre. Then we are your best choice. We offer a balanced, congruent, evidence based program that offers weekly individual counselling that is focused on you, your treatment within our treatment program, this in conjunction with the traditional small group processing, and psycho-educational programming found at most other treatment centres, addictions rehabs, alcohol and drug rehabs, however you wish to term it.

Here, at Top of the World Ranch Treatment Centre, we can help you find what you are looking for, what you know that you need; with much more ease than any other place. Why? Because of our place, the ranch, being here, facilitates positive change in a way that a more constricted, large or urban centre simply cannot.  Why? Because we alcoholics and addicts have a void that we are trying to fill. It is a vacuum it will be filled. We try to do this with alcohol, with drugs, with gambling, with sex, with food, with anything thing that allows us to “NOT BE HERE”. We use an individualized case management process for each client. This allows us to attend to our client’s individual needs within the context of an excellent, holistically delivered treatment program. We create a treatment plan with goals while in treatment, specific to our individual clients. We offer one to one addictions counseling sessions, in conjunction with small group processing and many other evidence based therapies to attend to the individual needs of our clients. Our clients continually attest benefits of this approach in our surveys. Each client is assigned a primary counselor with which they create their addictions treatment program. The client will also meet with other counselors within their areas of expertise to attend to the unique individual needs of each client. This requires a very well organized staff effort and the staff must have the experience and credentials to offer this service.

We are very good at what we do and as our current and past clients know, at the very core of who we are, that we as a staff, do what we do, for much more than simply operating a treatment center, an addictions rehab business... We get it... we see authentic value in offering of ourselves, that which we wish for others to find, in other words, being the change we wish to see. We offer addictions treatment to adults here and we treat you as an adult.  We are here to treat the whole person, with respect. If you do not respond well to this logic, or your current level of maturity would require a more combative stance from our staff, then we are not the place for you. We offer you our respect and we expect the same to be offered from you in return. A significant part of that respect is placing your trust in us, listening to us, allowing us to lead you while working with us through your program. You may not agree with everything that we ask of you, but you will know that we ask, because we care, because your best interests are our ours as well.

Our location is unmatched, Period. We are 600 deeded acres, with multiple levels of topography, surrounded by many 1000s of acres of crown land, within the Rocky Mountain Trench of South Eastern British Columbia Canada. Our lodge sits high on a shelf overlooking East Kootenay Valley and the Purcell and Rocky Mountains. This natural beauty, which is particularly important in early recovery, helps to allow our clients to achieve presence of mind, peace within their hearts and souls and an appreciation of “what is” and is very fertile ground for personal growth.

We offer a phenomenal place to breath, decompress, learn, get in touch, relieve anxiety, and to promote and enjoy healthy life style choices and activities.

We are not a typical 12 step program. Although we see great value in attendance of 12 step meetings and we attend, as a group, 4 mandatory meetings per week as part of your overall program, we are not a 12 step program and are not limited by this approach to primary treatment.

We are small enough in numbers (22 clients maximum) to allow for an ideal therapeutic community atmosphere to take place, yet large enough to employ an excellent multidisciplinary team of highly trained addictions experts.

Our facilities are top notch, as a former high end guest ranch, and to in unison with our natural beauty, we offer first rate accommodations. Each guest has their own bedroom in a two room cabin or two room lodge suites. To be clear, you will share a bath with one other and you will have your own private bedroom.

Our Signature Features, Although nature provides the best features that we offer, man has added significantly to our centre as well, from our many outdoor enhancements, like our poustinia where clients may go for silent retreats, to our Elk View Tower on our ridge walk, the 12 step trail, the lakes and the many other gathering and contemplative spots, that we have helped put into place that which can awaken the soul, and that adds to your treatment experience and will allow you to be present,  to be out of your head and living from your heart. We know how hard it is to slow down, let alone turn off the squirrel cage that is your mind. Learning to become present, learning to “be here” is a vital part of recovery. This understanding, this is a major reason as to why the ranch exists and why we have what we do.

Activities: Between our deeded land and the thousands of acres of crown (national forest) land that surrounds us, we have lakes with canoes, mountain bikes, many trails to hike, serene places to contemplate, and nature at its finest here on the ranch. As well we have world class golf, skiing, fishing, rafting, kayaking, mountain trail hiking, etc within a short distance of the ranch.

We are easy to get to. We are one plane change from most large urban areas and a direct flight from Calgary Alberta, Vancouver BC, and Salt Lake City Utah. We are also a 4 hour drive from Calgary Alberta and due to our number of clients from Calgary and our proximity to Calgary and of course what we offer and the success of our clients, many feel that we are the Calgary rehab, the Calgary treatment Centre.

Our success rate, our continuing care, our family program our TLP. Our success rate speaks for itself; our continuing care is designed to offer the highest potential for long term meaningful recovery. When every client departs they will have in place a very solid recovery plan contract, ranch staff and outside supports in place that allow for a seamless transition from primary treatment to their continuing care/recovery plan. Our Family program is facilitated by our highly trained counseling staff with the specific goal of helping our client’s families to gain understanding and promote healing from within the families, individually and as a unit. Our Transitional Living Program speaks for itself (see home page) as well and is the most productive of its kind.

We are affordable for many persons to attend. Although not inexpensive, we offer great value and an exceptional treatment experience. To put it simply, we charge what we have to, to offer what we do and to be what we are. For all of us at Top of the World this is a labor of Love. What I would ask myself, is this. What is most important in my life? Dig deep.  Depending on the answer, this will make the decision to attend treatment with us much easier to make.

Our Integrity: It is vital for the ranch and our staff to live with full integrity. We must have this integrity as our guiding conscious within our center and our within own souls so that we can offer the same to our clients.

Our Food: Healthy, and incredible, Top Chefs help to manifest healing from the inside as well. I can not overstate how incredible our food is here. Healthy and high end restaurant quality.

Most important of all, our staff. Many good centers have many good people working at them. I challenge you to find a group with the education, experience, compassion, and talents of our staff, particularly for anywhere near the fee of attendance. We have always known the number one most important part of our centre is our staff. We have succeeded in putting together what we believe to be is the best staff, along with the positive energy that comes from it, that exists at any treatment centre.
